Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hard surfaces
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The athlete, a former number one, has had a torrid period, managing just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and eventually separating with former coach Gilles Cervara.
Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive win over opponent Corentin Moutet.
This marks his first title after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after that period of that year.
Success also signifies the Russian has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one different competitions.
"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my children at once, so to win a trophy is really nice," stated world number 14 Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.
Medvedev's defensive play style and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had caused some to question if his capacity to compete at the highest level was over.
But the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and play positively, backed up by an enhanced service.
The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The pair exchanged service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial tour championship, seized the initiative to force a final set.
The opponent rescued 4 initial opportunities in a close third set before Medvedev broke to that score to close out the victory.
Fittingly, Medvedev secured the title with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
